What makes me laugh is when I do voice texts into my cell phone and see what it comes up with…it’s like a comedey show in my hand!!

Lorne Elliott is set to send your giggles “madly off in all directions”.

With his barely tamed afro, his rubbery face and his miniature guitar, the Canadian musical comedian is the master of all that is silly, side-splitting and strange.

Humourist, storyteller, comedian and musician, LORNE ELLIOTT returns to the Sunshine Coast for an evening of comedic mayhem and superbly silly musical fun for the whole family.

His current show is a one-man performance of thought-provoking contemporary satire: witty, clever and fast-paced. Lorne’s CBC Radio Comedy series “Madly Off  in  all  Directions“ was greeted with such enthusiastic audience response that the program went on for 11 Seasons. His latest project for CBC is titled “Chasing the Big Silly”.

Combining dry humour with musical numbers and skits, Elliott is a shrewd observer of the behaviour of the Canadian human animal. Often self-deprecating, always silly and never profane, Elliott’s funny is family friendly.

Well known as the host of his own CBC Radio Comedy Series which went on for 11 seasons, Elliott has been performing professionally on stage for more than two decades.

His ability to entertain is as keen as his wit.

Lorne has been featured on numerous Theatre Arts festivals, he is also an award-winning playwright and his plays are regularly produced across Canada.

Starting as a writer and folk musician, he went on writing comedic material  and staged it as one-man shows. The result of such training is a well crafted show of comedy & music theatre: totally original, entertaining and up-lifting.

His current concert performance  is a one-man  performance of humour, storytelling and music. The script is a work of thought-provoking contemporary satire: witty, clever and fast-paced. Lorne Elliott’s stage persona,  a contrast  of crazed  intellectual  and extravagant  jester  is both outlandish and charming.  The performance is a blend of comedic  mayhem and superbly silly performance art.

His work caught the attention of CBC Radio who aired one of his concert performances  on “Definitely Not The Opera”: it was greeted with such enthusiasm  all across the country that it was rebroadcast on “Sunday Showcase”and “Morningside”.

For all you storm watchers out there, here is a good video on youtube of the March 12th, 2012 storm smashing Trail Bay in Sechelt, BC…

People driving their cars through the waterfront drive are swamped by tidal forces breaching the dike/levee.

One of the waterfront condominium townhouse owners told me the waves flooded their basement through a ground level vent.

Looks like the new condominiums being built were also flooded. The construction site was swamped in huge pools of water.

I noticed that Big Mac’s next to the Raven’s Cry Theatre had their roof torn off!

I went for a walk along the waterfront and love a good storm! How about you?

From March 21 – April 7, Coast Community Productions (CCP) is putting on an hilarious farce called “Will You Still Love Me in the Morning” at the Heritage Playhouse.

CCP seeks to serve the coast with quality theatre, develop emerging talent, and support local businesses and charities. 

Last November, they produced the hilarious but thought provoking comedy, “The Man with the Plastic Sandwich”, which raised $500 for the Elves Club Telethon. 

Part of the proceeds from this production will support the Marylou Lymer Memorial Charity Hockey Tournament, a large local event that raises money for various forms of cancer.

Play Synopsis 
Home early from an atrocious honeymoon, Celia and Jeremy expect a week of solace in their cottage. Soon they  discover company. Both of Jeremy’s business associates have pounced on his offer to use the cottage during the honeymoon. And they have not brought their own wives but each others!  Playboy Humphrey Jessel is seeking to seduce the prim and proper Sara Ward. Meanwhile the geeky Peregrine Ward is bewitched by the sexually confident Thelma Jessel.  Neither pair knows of the other’s liaisons.  Since a promotion for Jeremy is at stake, the newlyweds forget relaxing and attempt to entertain all guests while hiding one affair from the other.  Their circus involves high speed, quick thinking, precise timing and a ton of comedy.  With talented actors, a two level set, and crazy plot, “Will You Still Love me in the Morning” is a farce that is sure to make you laugh until you cry.

Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America.  The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.

MissRepresentation.org is igniting a cross-generational movement to shift the cultural mindset of communities, interrupt and stop patterns of sexism, change the way women and girls are represented in the media and ensure a tipping point that will lead to gender parity in leadership.

A community/paneled discussion will follow the film’s screening. Cathy Roy, Sue Jackal, Margaret Page and Dorothy Riddle are the panelists.

Skimboarding on the Sushine Coast is hugely popular in Roberts Creek BC in the Spring and Summer.

The flat sandy beach during low tide is perfect and so is the view!
