Plan to spend Nov 28 in Sechelt to Shop the Neighbourhood and enjoy the lighting of the lights and the holiday parade.
Dress up warm and join us to celebrate the season! There may be a chill in the air but the magic of Christmas will be felt all around as we Light up Downtown Sechelt.
Grab the little ones and head down to our “make and take” craft table at Trail Bay Centre Mall from 2 to 4pm.
Stay warm as you shop until 5pm, then head up to the Rockwood for the Light the Lights ceremony and lighting of the Rockwood Garden Christmas lights. There will live Christmas music and free hot chocolate to keep you toasty.
At 5:30, we will join together with our tea lights in a candle-lit parade down to Cowrie St for the Parade of Lights. There will be great views all along Cowrie. Be sure to stop by our tent outside of the Salvation Army Thrift Shop to vote in our People’s Choice category for your favourite float.
Grab something to eat or a warm drink; both Carrot and Bean and Basted Baker will be open, offering great menu selections to ward off the cold. (Musicians Heather and Shaun will entertain at the Basted Baker.) Then stay for a visit and photo with Santa (warm attire is recommended), and we will keep the free hot chocolate flowing. Hot dogs are available for purchase at the Old Church square.
Finally, celebrate the Canada-Wide Shop the Neighbourhood event with us by strolling around in the evening air under the lights and visiting local merchants who are open late.

When you shop locally, you are supporting a strong community. Local purchases have lasting environmental, social and economic impacts on the neighbourhoods where we live, work and play.
Did you know that small businesses represent 2/3 of all the jobs generated in Canada private sector, and drive nearly 30% of Canada’s GDP? And those businesses reinvest in the community, through their purchases and their support of non-profit activities.
Your dollars have a greater impact when you spend them locally. Please join the Shop the Neighbourhood initiative on November 28th and plan to spend your day – and your dollars – in your town. The businesses of downtown Sechelt look forward to sharing special promotions with you on November 28th. Take the pledge here to Shop the Neighbourhood.
It’s Always a Good Day on the Sunshine Coast!
